It was a small-ish party for our rather big family. Since he is the first baby of his generation, I had to come up with a party that wouldn't be a total drag for adults. </div>

I LOVE my double oven. I mean, even though it's nearly 50 years old, it still works like a charm, and the thought of replacing it with something "affordable" makes me want to cry. But lets be honest. It was a bit of an eyesore. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I loved that it was original, and has such a cute retro panel- I just can't part with it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So what did I do? I painted it.</div>

Armed with a retro theme in mind, I started the fabric hunt next. I knew I would be sewing my own crib sheets, curtains, and changing pad cover, so the fabric would be next on the list of priorities. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Michael Miller's <i>Primary Puppy</i>, and <i>Out n' About Retro Road Signs </i>by Caleb Gray for the sheets with accents from Jenn Ski's <i>Mod Century</i> collection. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/TF7SeaW4QyiJz-ECqcm4UrGF9MUMWjVty9WXTmKPiF8=w276-h207-p-no" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/TF7SeaW4QyiJz-ECqcm4UrGF9MUMWjVty9WXTmKPiF8=w276-h207-p-no" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
From there I picked my paint color. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A weird thing happened while I was pregnant- I became very indecisive and insecure about my design choices- which contributed to the blogging hiatus. It took me two days to decide on a paint color for the nursery. I knew it would be an almost white, barely there color, but it would dramatically affect every other choice. I finally selected the <i>perfect</i> shade of light green. And then, while sitting in the living room, I held the swatch up to the wall and realized it is the <b>exact</b> color of my living room- no wonder I liked it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/WxevU0fTiIwQJJ820aWQmgwgTWKEZDYx5mzLEjJ-AOk=w276-h207-p-no" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/WxevU0fTiIwQJJ820aWQmgwgTWKEZDYx5mzLEjJ-AOk=w276-h207-p-no" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm usually the painter, but since WD didn't want to be around the fumes of even low VOC paint, he painted the nursery for me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: #e06666;">When we went to get the paint the Behr sales rep was in the store, and he explained that low and no VOC paint is only low & no while it's untinted. The tint has VOCs and the darker the color, the more tint required, and the more VOCs added back in. Very interesting!</span></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A quick trip to "the happiest place on earth," Ikea, and an awesome dresser given to us from my cousin Roger, and we were ready to start furnishing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/RP-v8tICvt5D9LKg5_eO1wvk9xixDMIgSz7mcduP9OM=w276-h207-p-no" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/RP-v8tICvt5D9LKg5_eO1wvk9xixDMIgSz7mcduP9OM=w276-h207-p-no" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/A-rByE_MwRe0VROzMq5jZonPb4dERxtlFA05vtXO9JU=w155-h207-p-no" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/A-rByE_MwRe0VROzMq5jZonPb4dERxtlFA05vtXO9JU=w155-h207-p-no" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I painted the back of these book shelves* with 2 $2 jars of tester paint before assembling them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I primed and painted the dresser with an orange paint I had in my oops paint stash. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/IIhCuS_oLjMMaz5sMI8Czj4W_F6DRKXlrkEyzTytMvI=w155-h207-p-no" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/IIhCuS_oLjMMaz5sMI8Czj4W_F6DRKXlrkEyzTytMvI=w155-h207-p-no" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The lined drawers made it so happy and perfect. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a coat of Polycrylic for some shine, and left it to dry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next day I returned to find the whole top of the dresser and part of the sides looked like it had been painted with crackle finish paint. OH NO, NO, NO! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My mom suspects that it was probably cleaned with some sort of oily furniture polish in its original life, which reacted with the Polycrylic. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well even if I re-painted it might still crackle again, and we were only guessing the Polycrylic caused the reaction, it may have only sped up the inevitable. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I primed the top again, and decoupaged varying shades and sizes of orange tissue paper squares to the top. The side closest to the crib is still crackled, but since you can't see it, I didn't worry about it for now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the beginning of it coming together around March. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi35ktbSVXYsEUsoDxWmDFZebusyk6EHcE9NTps_8CoqZsO1pqQHRHHw2-64j4UZk0vnkQzF0CUSkCVLCnC7Oe8RU9AmpH70dX2UU4EBCGUUZx8QO7f2a5ae16gbvs4AfW8QQ8i7fR1NZHZ/s1600/nursery+start.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi35ktbSVXYsEUsoDxWmDFZebusyk6EHcE9NTps_8CoqZsO1pqQHRHHw2-64j4UZk0vnkQzF0CUSkCVLCnC7Oe8RU9AmpH70dX2UU4EBCGUUZx8QO7f2a5ae16gbvs4AfW8QQ8i7fR1NZHZ/s400/nursery+start.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>*Although I LOVE my bookcase wall and it has been a tremendous help with storage, it has taken a LONG time for the pressed-wood-toxic-chemical smell to dissipate... like 6 months with an air purifier running in there 24/7. If you live in the kind of climate where you can air them out outside or in the garage I would <b>highly</b> recommend it. Since we try and avoid anything with a chemical smell in our house, as much as possible, I know I am more sensitive to these smells than most people. WD doesn't smell it, but boys never smell anything. </i></div>

The Crib<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
From the time we started thinking about having a baby, I started dreaming of nurseries.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I knew the centerpiece of my nursery would be the crib- It would be the most pivotal style element, and I wanted it to be mid-century modern, like so much of my furniture is. So when you google "mid- century crib," DwellStudio's MidCentury Crib pops up- and it was LOVE at first sight. </div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://img2.wfrcdn.com/lf/50/hash/1441/8433817/1/DwellStudio-Mid-Century-Crib-in-Natural.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img2.wfrcdn.com/lf/50/hash/1441/8433817/1/DwellStudio-Mid-Century-Crib-in-Natural.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i><a href="http://www.dwellstudio.com/DwellStudio-Mid-Century-Crib-in-Natural-F-1000-NATURAL-DWL3450.html" target="_blank">DwellStudio</a></i></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And then I saw the price tag... and my heart sank. I knew forking over $980 + 10% sales tax would be really irresponsible. WD and I started saving to have a baby the year before. We saved enough to finish our basement and furnish a nursery and buy any baby essentials we didn't receive as gifts. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I put it out of my mind and continued on my search for the second best crib.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM-S4kUIxTVOFGK2w88aFI2gBSdm808mHeaYW9QjayuB-G2GDSjhfjNO3u3BFGXwdb33-Q843jZ7SP0pnxmCQ-5CRTpSZojmqnjmTCjoIUuLed0bovNY2rUhZcszWQF9Pj2lkHFfDaVk9D/s1600/cribs_Fotor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM-S4kUIxTVOFGK2w88aFI2gBSdm808mHeaYW9QjayuB-G2GDSjhfjNO3u3BFGXwdb33-Q843jZ7SP0pnxmCQ-5CRTpSZojmqnjmTCjoIUuLed0bovNY2rUhZcszWQF9Pj2lkHFfDaVk9D/s640/cribs_Fotor.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.youngamerica.com/products/cribs/kudos-crib.html" target="_blank">Young America</a>, <a href="https://www.oeufnyc.com/" target="_blank">Ouef</a>, <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60091931/http://www.ikea.com" target="_blank">Ikea</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had it narrowed down to these three choices. but before I made a major purchase like this, I would need to see them in person. If I didn't fall in love, I might as well buy the ikea crib and just paint it a crazy color and save a lot of money. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found a boutique called Seed Factory in Atlanta that carried Ouef cribs and headed over to their blog and I see this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNhQ3Znx9vf930YLtGzu7kp6drcOJ3pSKVxFI2vC_VG2QMgdfVgDyhzFKmhWvs-3w7jL1pOCp3sAinjs6IYSUdT39bnJpGB05UaMM46p2hK1FdZpvTTLDXQx0wz8gkZdyy5lG9g6vDW1lP/s1600/8376730770_2cb3514e0c_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNhQ3Znx9vf930YLtGzu7kp6drcOJ3pSKVxFI2vC_VG2QMgdfVgDyhzFKmhWvs-3w7jL1pOCp3sAinjs6IYSUdT39bnJpGB05UaMM46p2hK1FdZpvTTLDXQx0wz8gkZdyy5lG9g6vDW1lP/s320/8376730770_2cb3514e0c_z.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
EXCUSE ME?! THE DWELLSTUDIO CENTURY CRIB WILL BE ON SALE??</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My heart started racing, I picked up the phone, trying to play it cool (after all the Robin crib would probably still be the more fiscally responsible choice and they may only be like 5% off) and called to see how much the Century Crib & Robin Crib would be on sale for and how many they had in stock. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 DwellStudio crib in white, 1 in espresso, and 1 in natural at 40% off. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
40% OFF!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
January 19th was two days away and I had to work, so I called my mom in a panic to see if maybe she would be willing to drive downtown, in an ice storm, to buy my dream crib for me. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Because she loves me, and could probably hear the uncontrollable delight and panic that someone might snag the cribs before I could come into town (because <i>SURELY</i> with a deal like this, it might be like the running of the cribs with pregnant ladies camping out and and getting into a hair pulling brawl over this deal,) she agreed to brave the weather for me and secured my dream crib!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
WD was at a wrestling tournament that weekend, so I donated the extra guest bed, and cleaned the nursery. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The crib sealed the deal on the theme: Retro travel & toys in bright colors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/oDsI0tM3q6u4VPX1Tte0SPiO3KSeQUMmNatQLQ8XgiY=w276-h207-p-no" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/oDsI0tM3q6u4VPX1Tte0SPiO3KSeQUMmNatQLQ8XgiY=w276-h207-p-no" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was so proud when WD finished building it on the following Monday night! I used pillows covered in fabric to fake the look of a mattress until we could get ours. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(and compared to other crib assembly horror stories, this crib was a piece of cake to assemble. It is literally 7 pieces- 4 sides, 2 leg pieces, and the mattress support.)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It still makes me happy every time I see it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

When we bought our house, the whole thing was painted this yellowy beige we not-so-lovingly called "nicotine stain." Knowing how much color affects people, WD and I realized how much more we loved our house when we're in the re-painted rooms so we had to get serious about adding some color again. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Every morning, I was getting ready in this blah space, and looking at myself in the mirror while the nicotine stain reflected on my skin. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Luckily the bones of my bathroom are good. I love my giant cabinets and I may have one of the only bathrooms to come out of 1967 that has white tile. Unfortunately the clean, white tile made the walls look even dingier (and for the record, if this bathroom had been pink, it would have </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">been love at first sight.)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
Not only is this my bathroom, but it's also the hall bath our guests use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
<i>"Welcome to my lovely home I lovingly currated. If you need to wash your hands feel free to stop at the creepy campground public restroom down the hall." </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRD4ecf-foHLCZZJiWGnZ8m-hs5PwZnLL42gSrXTi1UilRh-1IQLNCrD3Pm_Orog9ivojuLGc19IqB5Yn5eEDINEUsw0mfm-n9BrO_boPfQhcYfSexpQLI_dtgAfRGhzzAjmpr_FwgBp6K/s1600/b4bath.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRD4ecf-foHLCZZJiWGnZ8m-hs5PwZnLL42gSrXTi1UilRh-1IQLNCrD3Pm_Orog9ivojuLGc19IqB5Yn5eEDINEUsw0mfm-n9BrO_boPfQhcYfSexpQLI_dtgAfRGhzzAjmpr_FwgBp6K/s400/b4bath.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">So one Friday afternoon, while WD was at the football game and Yogi was napping, I decided to throw some paint on these walls... and cabinets. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL5E6tpXbhyBuxXZEQ1yLMVrsiN1UUbNzODDgyXXnP_Ynfu3yxC0rqhevJ2FGeZNVYzlIm-2evMWPdYu2AU58v_L29EfaDVr2_4dsYspkfiXv2191_yNAHZARqrkDJKQd24iA05Ezi0PU6/s1600/photo+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL5E6tpXbhyBuxXZEQ1yLMVrsiN1UUbNzODDgyXXnP_Ynfu3yxC0rqhevJ2FGeZNVYzlIm-2evMWPdYu2AU58v_L29EfaDVr2_4dsYspkfiXv2191_yNAHZARqrkDJKQd24iA05Ezi0PU6/s320/photo+1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The best kind of painting project is a free one, so I grabbed the leftover paint from my kitchen and finished in two hours!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It has totally changed the way I feel when I'm getting ready. I feel so happy and pretty in here now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">TIP: Always paint your bathroom a color you look good in (so you look good in there.) Unless you have amazing natural light, avoid dark colors. You don't want to come out looking like you are 12 and don't know how much </span></i></b><b style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><i><span style="color: #e06666;">makeup is </span></i></b><b style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><i><span style="color: #e06666;">too much. </span></i></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv4kkYZEfK9VsnSKkXXaseU0zCc72DwBvkA6-KKallBW0waYt4dYoQjAVohp95NDfbj_yDbx5COC2rT1X69XeDZPhugnw0GNe1JWzy5_-Q6zIn_FnR03goMZNuOix5QManf4jT5SEv1blo/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv4kkYZEfK9VsnSKkXXaseU0zCc72DwBvkA6-KKallBW0waYt4dYoQjAVohp95NDfbj_yDbx5COC2rT1X69XeDZPhugnw0GNe1JWzy5_-Q6zIn_FnR03goMZNuOix5QManf4jT5SEv1blo/s640/photo+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm hoping to stumble upon a great deal on the birds or accent flowers that go with the dogwood above the towels, to put on this blank wall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfjRQ3pAP8_GntjDPlT86mOKsj52-mkYi51APat2OFF3ZGTrzmf2sTSG4c6GryqIvISXFxc8a0v6Gop7FWQ4BZC_z6cTaBF7i6QLPLBO2opugU4Q4g9haXIUgyBlnKohnqzERJMVAlJC_b/s1600/bathroom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfjRQ3pAP8_GntjDPlT86mOKsj52-mkYi51APat2OFF3ZGTrzmf2sTSG4c6GryqIvISXFxc8a0v6Gop7FWQ4BZC_z6cTaBF7i6QLPLBO2opugU4Q4g9haXIUgyBlnKohnqzERJMVAlJC_b/s640/bathroom.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Turquoise cabinents aren't for everyone, but<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> I wasn't nervous about</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> painting the cabinets such a bright color because 1. I LOVE this color, and 2. they were already that awful nicotine stain color too, so before we ever thought of moving, we would have to re-paint them any way. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue Light, HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">If you want to take a risk in your house, do it with paint. Worse case scenario- you paint over it. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue Light, HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">It's just paint people, it grows back... Oh wait that's hair. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilkvSogQeXuRXRm4g-MCwUIYvbUCXx2LXx1-17rrQenIT3cKikzEmGU2cffV1FC644pxTEfapPsa40Z-TB3J5br1pGafkiu19pjaQ_BPBRiy_9PBz01rP2LxqT0vpqriKbAJ7aZgOq3779/s1600/photo+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilkvSogQeXuRXRm4g-MCwUIYvbUCXx2LXx1-17rrQenIT3cKikzEmGU2cffV1FC644pxTEfapPsa40Z-TB3J5br1pGafkiu19pjaQ_BPBRiy_9PBz01rP2LxqT0vpqriKbAJ7aZgOq3779/s320/photo+4.jpg" width="193" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I would still like to add some shelf liner inside the cabinets. Either the blue quatrefoil or the white and gold bamboo chinoiserie from my collection.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(Doesn't the tile look so bright now?)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I can't believe it has been this long. So, since we last spoke, I had a baby! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A precious 7lb 15oz, 20 inch baby boy at 3:24am on Saturday, May 24th. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We will call him Yogi here. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I didn't mean for my maternity leave from the blog to be this long, but I was very anxious about starting to write again. Not only was I unsure of my identity as a mommy, I didn't know where the blog would go from here. Since my life has changed, would it be okay for my blog to change as well? Would my readers appreciate the change or should I totally re-brand and start from scratch? Days, then months were going by as I sat undecided on what to say or do, I couldn't even visit the blog without it feeling overwhelming- like another thing on my 20 mile long to-do list. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Starting to blog again after this long hiatus is much scarier than starting the blog was.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was so confident then, I knew exactly who I was, what this blog would be about, and how I could easily manage it all. Well, let me just have an honest moment with you- I no longer feel any of those things. I am slowly beginning to figure out who I am in this new chapter of my life, but I still have no idea where this blog may go and I have no idea how often I will be able to sit down and write a post or document a Pinterest-worthy DIY project, but I am still passionate about being a homemaker, that much I know.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
---</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So this is the journey I have been on: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have had a constant inner struggle for at least the last 10 years; I am at all times both a perfectionist and a free spirit. I want things done with excellence, coming out just as I had envisioned, but I am easily distracted by the creative side of myself who gets an idea or whim that may be all consuming for days. This causes an inner argument on a daily basis over which side will win out- and in the last few months, the fighting has been amplified by the postpartum hormones. The perfectionist side of me wants my life to be and appear as perfect as possible, considering anything less an embarrassing failure. I want my house to look like a magazine spread, every meal to look and taste professionally cooked, to be dressed to the nines every time I leave the house (and preferably already back to my pre-baby weight), and everyone to think I've got it all together. Anything less and I feel guilty about my inadequacies. This perfectionist side of me is always nagging and critical of the free spirit side. The free spirit loves to read, learn, and create. The free spirit is frustrated when the perfectionist wants to <i>waste</i> the 8 hours or less a day Yogi is awake cleaning, she wants to play and snuggle with him, take 60,000,000 pictures and video every adorable giggle. The free spirit wants to spend time with my husband when he comes home. She makes lists constantly, so as not to disappoint the perfectionist, usually feeling overwhelmed with the unfinished, ever-growing list; and feeling as if one way or another I always needed to apologize for letting someone down.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
---</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The courage to start writing again comes from this understanding of myself. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One side is not really better than the other, they both make me who I am. I am who I am. God loves me just as I am, and He made me this way for a reason. I do not need to compare myself to others because I can only be me.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So in the last month I have decided to stop feeling guilty for not having it all together all the time. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You may find grammatical or spelling errors here because I may not always have time for extensive editing. If you come to my house, there will probably be a dish or five in the sink, and some shoes in the floor, but my baby and husband will be clean, fed, and happy. Although I do feel more at peace when my house is in order- when my bed is made, and the kitchen counters are sparkling and bare, beating myself up over my imperfections does not lead to peace. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Most of all, even though I may not have time for any new creative hobbies, I am not bored or boring. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHq8tHixUSBwfe34vTHX2wb9ZIXFoaV4SSULfrNbk9p8IymNOgr-NcnyizSq5DaL-Uuu8JVuCmlBDdpRQNVDyBYuCcir7mVwxOZxCX9rNcEEyh5Pbh2qh6zQLVS8zQPqP3eS3uwnlrwm1_/s1600/16+week+overview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHq8tHixUSBwfe34vTHX2wb9ZIXFoaV4SSULfrNbk9p8IymNOgr-NcnyizSq5DaL-Uuu8JVuCmlBDdpRQNVDyBYuCcir7mVwxOZxCX9rNcEEyh5Pbh2qh6zQLVS8zQPqP3eS3uwnlrwm1_/s640/16+week+overview.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At the end of the day, regardless of how much I accomplish, this guy loves me for who I am, and appreciates his chilled out mommy! </div>

<a href="http://img4-3.realsimple.timeinc.net/images/holidays-entertaining/holidays/0412/christmas-tree_300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img4-3.realsimple.timeinc.net/images/holidays-entertaining/holidays/0412/christmas-tree_300.jpg" width="269" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Ellen Silverman</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Earlier this week I overheard a conversation between two men, one complaining about putting lights on his tree, and the other said his sister suggested to put them on in a zig- zag manor working up and down the tree. Both men seemed amazed at the suggestion that had been made by his sister. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Assuming you have a real tree, or don't have a pre-lit tree, winding lights round and round the tree is either requires two people, or is incredibly frustrating.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 16px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<i><span style="font-family: inherit;">Every holiday season, when you hang the lights on your tree, the crossing strands form a wire net that’s a bear to remove. But there’s a solution: “The trick is to go up and down, not around and around,” says David Stark, co-owner of Avi Adler, a Brooklyn floral and event design company. Here’s a pro-tested technique that ensures orderly wires <span style="background-color: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">and</span> a dramatic display.<br /><br /> </span></i></div>
<ul style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 16px; margin: 10px 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 40px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<li style="background-color: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><i><span style="font-family: inherit;">Divide the tree vertically into three sections and string lights by section.</span></i></li>
<li style="background-color: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><i><span style="font-family: inherit;">Plug the lights in before you begin, to weed out defective strands. Leave them plugged in as you place them so you can spot dark spaces in the tree.</span></i></li>
<li style="background-color: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><i><span style="font-family: inherit;">Beginning at the bottom, weave each string in and out of the branches, to the top of the tree and back.</span></i></li>
</ul>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 16px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<i><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Need more proof that this tactic is the way to go? Decorators at New York City’s Rockefeller Center (and who would know better how to light a tree?) use a trunk-to-tip method to create “not just a shell of light but an inner glow and a three-dimensionality that cannot be achieved any other way,” says David Murbach, the manager of the center’s gardens division.</span></i></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 16px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<i>this is a repost from last year, because I am not sure I am going to have the energy this year to decorate as hard core as I did last year... just wait till baby's first Christmas! I will make up for it next year I promise!</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBKWENEFnHifzmk1hzmgm_a2McZOxHnr-LBmRumUoD0Hny_BkuQ84hJjO9X3_8C3xS9bHPGX4NEM-ubgy3PGwVMSSgIZotQMV3AOlv_oOnGx4qqk54pAHCJMqmSwN2g7xR18bewDDL4yAH/s1600/Kitschen+Christmas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBKWENEFnHifzmk1hzmgm_a2McZOxHnr-LBmRumUoD0Hny_BkuQ84hJjO9X3_8C3xS9bHPGX4NEM-ubgy3PGwVMSSgIZotQMV3AOlv_oOnGx4qqk54pAHCJMqmSwN2g7xR18bewDDL4yAH/s1600/Kitschen+Christmas.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: 'Josefin Sans'; font-size: 20px; line-height: 30px;">
There are a lot of special and sentimental items in this room. The aluminum tree was my great grandmother's. I have the color wheel too, but it makes me very nervous- <i>fire hazard.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: 'Josefin Sans'; font-size: 20px; line-height: 30px;">
The blow mold Santa reminds me of my favorite Christmas decorations as a child. My Nana and Papaw had Santa's Sleigh and the reindeer on their roof when I was very small, later on they only made it to the yard, and then when they moved, <i>SOMEONE</i> threw them away! <i>rude!</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: 'Josefin Sans'; font-size: 20px; line-height: 30px;">
I have spent every Christmas Eve and Night at my Nana and Pappaw's, so all this memories are very special to me. Many of my other decorations were gifts from loved ones attics.... often with a "seriously, you want this?"</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: 'Josefin Sans'; font-size: 20px; line-height: 30px;">
I made my tree skirt last year. WD thinks I made the angel look like me... maybe I did.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Granted I don't have to get on a ladder, but it literally takes about 2 minutes to hang these four. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I left the hooks on my porch up last year, just to see how durable they were, and they lasted all year! The white hooks are of course less noticeable if you want to leave them up year round, but the green ones photographed better. You could also just remove the hook part and leave the little clear piece, for an even more discreet look- just remember where you store the hooks.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Every year I try to wrap my gifts in a unique, handcrafted way. I also want the wrapping to be consistent like a signature wrapping style. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7mdTOfAZi5vjw5qm7SW0Nt0M2ry_PrLbQDhIgI7t52Bssrx3A-D6RCrQmTgCM80gkoUdU6uu9Q49F2CrVqMW3f5pfrFmFIIQeF_sNfCCO_U1m78A0ZVopVGN0Ry3pScHtL5XgFYCTeDOh/s1600/6199F47E-D69A-49DE-8C87-31A90522ADDF.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7mdTOfAZi5vjw5qm7SW0Nt0M2ry_PrLbQDhIgI7t52Bssrx3A-D6RCrQmTgCM80gkoUdU6uu9Q49F2CrVqMW3f5pfrFmFIIQeF_sNfCCO_U1m78A0ZVopVGN0Ry3pScHtL5XgFYCTeDOh/s400/6199F47E-D69A-49DE-8C87-31A90522ADDF.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First I wrap all my gifts in brown kraft paper. It is super thick and delightfully inexpensive. Of course you can purchase it in a shipping store, or you can purchase ("brown builders paper") online or in the paint section at a hardware store like Home Depot- $10.97 for 35" x 140'- (most wrapping paper rolls are 30" x 5' or 10'.) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
HD also sells red and green "masking" paper, which looks like a red or green kraft paper. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I purchased 4 skeins of yarn when it was on sale for $1 each. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
You can add a yarn pom pom for a bow if you desire. They are super easy to make. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Wrap the yarn around your hand about a million times. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Tie another piece of yarn tightly around the center of the loop. (You can tie it through the center of the loop to make a giant pom pom, but you will need to wrap the yarn 2 million times.)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Cut through the loops on either side.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. Then give it a haircut to make it a nice, neat, tight, little ball of poof. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrpEQtGFG-pj6ov3XVFG8kbOFee6MrlE0Czk3-d9NIVojjYc1HVbkp0OiGxFg-msS__Cg9LJi9FAsNIRiaxtkNOuNATSlKaoHFvCh1xDqbLBssj7ZBq-aLJNaKUoqTLXl_xvXpMe371EaP/s1600/40D7CC20-09A3-4D3A-BEF3-F544E3EDC539.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrpEQtGFG-pj6ov3XVFG8kbOFee6MrlE0Czk3-d9NIVojjYc1HVbkp0OiGxFg-msS__Cg9LJi9FAsNIRiaxtkNOuNATSlKaoHFvCh1xDqbLBssj7ZBq-aLJNaKUoqTLXl_xvXpMe371EaP/s320/40D7CC20-09A3-4D3A-BEF3-F544E3EDC539.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And simply tie it or tape it on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjZnXy7ukiQm5jJE4mxf2DXX204gjwvBPdtEftUGj0UgvuJ9QkXPu_1xJ6q8qQp1obJOOdLtSbUMINX7ZsS3qUZAXctWsbmHf-RTQJYLRAzY7gTGeM12287-xuc4E_NTl4P-tCpTe6FOD4/s1600/4E1BB402-0DDD-4FFF-AFAD-157FA2BE8881.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjZnXy7ukiQm5jJE4mxf2DXX204gjwvBPdtEftUGj0UgvuJ9QkXPu_1xJ6q8qQp1obJOOdLtSbUMINX7ZsS3qUZAXctWsbmHf-RTQJYLRAzY7gTGeM12287-xuc4E_NTl4P-tCpTe6FOD4/s320/4E1BB402-0DDD-4FFF-AFAD-157FA2BE8881.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You could also just haphazardly wrap the yarn all over the package.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Or in neat lines or zig-zags. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pom-poms can also double as a bookmark if the yarn is cut to leave a tail. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made these cute little Book Baubles last year for Christmas, but I have left them up year round as nice, INEXPENSIVE, style pieces. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to share with you how simple they were to make.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I selected thick paperback books from the thrift store. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So in the spirit of keeping it real around here lately....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFhtcx4emzt_znccGHwhhK7Yq94ubAoMSOiTlfQwh1Hcy9n6aN-kKPRTT23pZT5j5-JUTIp1g2aHg-RqLGKTtuY0x7J4CrtUpAigrMVO_XLdndPCUJYMaOxHkj1cWvAOdlNoqPHK8yZAb-/s1600/0092AE19-BDAA-4D25-8B1E-6AB8D1579532.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFhtcx4emzt_znccGHwhhK7Yq94ubAoMSOiTlfQwh1Hcy9n6aN-kKPRTT23pZT5j5-JUTIp1g2aHg-RqLGKTtuY0x7J4CrtUpAigrMVO_XLdndPCUJYMaOxHkj1cWvAOdlNoqPHK8yZAb-/s640/0092AE19-BDAA-4D25-8B1E-6AB8D1579532.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I made my first ETSY sale of the new shop Tuesday night! WOOHOO! 2 adorable, hand painted, vintage, oil, German landscapes. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I sold them for $10 for the pair with $5 shipping (since my shipping calculator estimated shipping at $5.35.)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
SIKE! When I took them to the Post Office this morning.... $12 for shipping!!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Seriously, I just paid $2 for someone else to own these paintings....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Okay successful etsy sellers, how do you handle these things, how do you estimate shipping, and deal with the people who are accustomed to a world full of free shipping?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<i>This post is to let you know we ALL make dumb mistakes. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I stumbled upon some brass pieces at the thrift store this week, and thought the middle piece looked like a cauldron, and would make a very cute black glitter cauldron. So I spray primed it, and proceeded to mix the perfect glitter concoction. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8X4ehFnrh_wJc93Vb-OStNAZ5fYWwTd5lBQ-zm_wmovi8MVmhJKRq6znLGF9EseW9hciqgt0heinNVwSZ4A16GSo7WhlygRkoa3ScutBwS6Hr-SGe_5Hol6Y8CBAmydN6188OqKMRFiMN/s1600/A535C3A8-4E62-444C-AB30-CA88A5204AF1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8X4ehFnrh_wJc93Vb-OStNAZ5fYWwTd5lBQ-zm_wmovi8MVmhJKRq6znLGF9EseW9hciqgt0heinNVwSZ4A16GSo7WhlygRkoa3ScutBwS6Hr-SGe_5Hol6Y8CBAmydN6188OqKMRFiMN/s640/A535C3A8-4E62-444C-AB30-CA88A5204AF1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When you are glittering something, if you mix the glitter in with the mod podge/ glue it wont flake off all over your house. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk_vjtH0ZLuWKhpOwKxMP3ubgf2jZudh4-52GQ9NtSPaLkJhQzCZXbU9VNLsofH6sSztVPRcgDuMgDqyrcogCqotE0Dx4gU6is7X1z3CQE0VUfbSpT27NxciJUQd6JIj5Qh6ByXeTp40do/s1600/193ADE17-1C79-44B7-BEAE-60671E1C7551.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk_vjtH0ZLuWKhpOwKxMP3ubgf2jZudh4-52GQ9NtSPaLkJhQzCZXbU9VNLsofH6sSztVPRcgDuMgDqyrcogCqotE0Dx4gU6is7X1z3CQE0VUfbSpT27NxciJUQd6JIj5Qh6ByXeTp40do/s320/193ADE17-1C79-44B7-BEAE-60671E1C7551.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So i mixed equal parts glitter and mod podge to get it nice that thick. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqyoMqvAi7ukIpvPIxq5GlepTbJkJPm6ic5ItdArS7kUJykOZDXTqeMMraBqtQH4weRBsHOEcqU0yOy2ecEDoJ3isZCLLhSpPyyB_zt1jiBe7G_mFW2lpasd_tel2trqL8lFLG9eTyiAX-/s1600/24A33B32-2151-4E4C-8234-1F4668934FA6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqyoMqvAi7ukIpvPIxq5GlepTbJkJPm6ic5ItdArS7kUJykOZDXTqeMMraBqtQH4weRBsHOEcqU0yOy2ecEDoJ3isZCLLhSpPyyB_zt1jiBe7G_mFW2lpasd_tel2trqL8lFLG9eTyiAX-/s320/24A33B32-2151-4E4C-8234-1F4668934FA6.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then proceeded to paint the glitter onto the primed cauldron....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"OH, DUMB!!"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I should have painted the cauldron black first. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7iRUmfrEJ17VFOeYlyl3En_ONxcxgZMgwUyZplIvlIG0WfskGIaUc7zJzhu2D0HeO0RS7lsJnoNgE4zBgmBkYvvagLVmuvpIwbPjSzmdjus9Wf6a3V0eQXiGeGis6di3TRSzWro227Tde/s1600/27077387-6D0F-4A71-BFB8-38ECEFC1E116.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7iRUmfrEJ17VFOeYlyl3En_ONxcxgZMgwUyZplIvlIG0WfskGIaUc7zJzhu2D0HeO0RS7lsJnoNgE4zBgmBkYvvagLVmuvpIwbPjSzmdjus9Wf6a3V0eQXiGeGis6di3TRSzWro227Tde/s320/27077387-6D0F-4A71-BFB8-38ECEFC1E116.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

You could use autumn branches, fall flowers, dried flowers, or a small potted plant as well to fill your pumpkins. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you want to use these outdoors, you might want to put some rocks or something else heavy inside to keep them from blowing away. </div>

So we have had another guest room, but it seems when we have guests we either have more than two, or a pair that isn't used to the confines of a queen sized bed. So we decided to add another guest room for our friends and family!! So stop by, and stay a while!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We moved most of the studio stuff down to the basement, but I didn't want to move my desk downstairs because I need to be able to access my computer anytime. Plus right now, I am sitting on the daybed watching <i>Dick Van Dyke</i> on Netflix!</div>

The daybed is actually a full sized bed, turned sideways, with a king sized headboard we snagged for $30! (did you know a King size bed is the same width as a twin or full sized bed?) This is a great trick for odd shaped rooms, or when you don't want your furniture to feel all crammed in the corners. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh, and if you didn't remember what it looked like before when it was the studio/ dressing room....</div>

I have been on the hunt for an amazing desk chair since we put that awesome green one in this room. I wanted to replace the plain ol' black one. Friday, I snatched this one up for $20!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0n8l3CjcAuMz7XKncF0cF0qD9o4F-uPMvVjEcjRXGsvihfEBt_vaJ6mfKc7Sze8HW6etUwcaZLMQxzrikUzKeiN4-yPTYH1PDuqN-YYWByFQHO__sGmbW7WQoV4xgku92TqjKtoqQedND/s1600/DSC_0720.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0n8l3CjcAuMz7XKncF0cF0qD9o4F-uPMvVjEcjRXGsvihfEBt_vaJ6mfKc7Sze8HW6etUwcaZLMQxzrikUzKeiN4-yPTYH1PDuqN-YYWByFQHO__sGmbW7WQoV4xgku92TqjKtoqQedND/s640/DSC_0720.jpg" width="448" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Look at those lines- quick someone get me a typewriter, a steno pad, and one of those pen necklaces <a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/db/Joan_Holloway_Wiki.jpg" target="_blank">Joan</a> wears.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1EJuSXrxStvYmabXRqzNI3dJwXZuTJ7SGA2O2DsnerlrBCH1QSXk1kbI3T0dO8gUkrO2JrvxNraCmtNBrCs_iv0cHArVu7-7hhsM2WfJjjc8av0omeHdNmlKPtTYgy2oTwP4VwTu5egZP/s1600/chairb4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1EJuSXrxStvYmabXRqzNI3dJwXZuTJ7SGA2O2DsnerlrBCH1QSXk1kbI3T0dO8gUkrO2JrvxNraCmtNBrCs_iv0cHArVu7-7hhsM2WfJjjc8av0omeHdNmlKPtTYgy2oTwP4VwTu5egZP/s640/chairb4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here it is when we came home. This yellow & orange tweed was a little worse for it's wear, and I was pretty sure there was no foam in the seat. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSku5GNYU8lb2WHBo-7znaq-6RgnM9pOiDz2BDdw6do0e_l9ZjlNBRN89W2xE9GBsi-bEHaq_b8BHUg-XJkSo99ygu95nHJnI8qePVXnJNScwgyC1EG3yRKF4s-qanvVbIJvYpnh5hyphenhyphengCU/s1600/chairapart.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="515" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSku5GNYU8lb2WHBo-7znaq-6RgnM9pOiDz2BDdw6do0e_l9ZjlNBRN89W2xE9GBsi-bEHaq_b8BHUg-XJkSo99ygu95nHJnI8qePVXnJNScwgyC1EG3yRKF4s-qanvVbIJvYpnh5hyphenhyphengCU/s640/chairapart.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I deconstructed the chair. Removed screws and fabric. Under the back rest, was a beautiful, pristine leather. Under the seat, the upholstery was taped on, and the seat was coated in really old, dry rotted, nasty, foam powder. I scraped it off outside with a mask on (just in case it was toxic). Then I added foam to the back rest and two pieces to the seat. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then it got a layer of the awesome orange herringbone fabric. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So in my original plan for the basement, I planned to hand suspended curtain rods from the ceiling to create a visual wall to cover the storage area. Unfortunately we couldn't find a stud, and supporting a wall of curtains is too much to ask from drywall alone. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During a trip to Ikea last weekend i stumbled upon the perfect solution!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs4g5JxCBVGKRmNvvGqNLufXFVI0sNreKiUR1FNXC2-tU_Uccvrqvga9LeldiaJ5PUp615fqQlnZVntAYz_ydFnRZfFGLlVank5EvKiFkzPXcIcWBCQJ45yy4fuSLPwV3gGssq5mW3n6ED/s1600/stolmenCollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs4g5JxCBVGKRmNvvGqNLufXFVI0sNreKiUR1FNXC2-tU_Uccvrqvga9LeldiaJ5PUp615fqQlnZVntAYz_ydFnRZfFGLlVank5EvKiFkzPXcIcWBCQJ45yy4fuSLPwV3gGssq5mW3n6ED/s640/stolmenCollage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stolmen is a closet system where poles are suspended between the ceiling and the floor, and many combinations of poles, drawers, or shelves can be added to customize your space. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So for my particular needs I just needed a few poles, the joint brackets, and the clothes rails to hang as high as possible. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEfvVc2MJNdhFdJZyx4MA56LseKJQrHXdqd75tbGRH6qvgLa7CdEj48R6EY7BndXjqhtfxrOKh96jF058rmxwJX72hcVZeA8Wsd28B5v2YNgSuwRjFX4ZJGEeokPYxG_b6LN5DF3RDXJGY/s1600/06DD7C56-D0C7-48FF-B7C9-08DAF7FFE130.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEfvVc2MJNdhFdJZyx4MA56LseKJQrHXdqd75tbGRH6qvgLa7CdEj48R6EY7BndXjqhtfxrOKh96jF058rmxwJX72hcVZeA8Wsd28B5v2YNgSuwRjFX4ZJGEeokPYxG_b6LN5DF3RDXJGY/s400/06DD7C56-D0C7-48FF-B7C9-08DAF7FFE130.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I attached the curtains to shower curtain rings from the dollar store on the back. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyzyYgNwuncEu3hFjHQ76826X0wIKV3MRtyV9HYIUafaJ-RjEGy-1P8vvtYAQ38TWKpaJwEY1cPk1KT-jEWEESZ_4Q4OORMdhH_84Z33Z-HvyRfSw2NhGW4Z-DHdrnBY2ShjlEyv5kpww1/s1600/dowel%252BL.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="162" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyzyYgNwuncEu3hFjHQ76826X0wIKV3MRtyV9HYIUafaJ-RjEGy-1P8vvtYAQ38TWKpaJwEY1cPk1KT-jEWEESZ_4Q4OORMdhH_84Z33Z-HvyRfSw2NhGW4Z-DHdrnBY2ShjlEyv5kpww1/s320/dowel%252BL.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If the clothes poles from Ikea are the wrong size for your space, you can use a wooden dowel cut to size with an L bracket screwed to each end.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Paint is the fastest way to add dramatic style to your room, and it can be easy too! Here are all the secrets that have been passed down to me from my mom (a paint pro) and my art degree. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>this is a LOT of info- so bear with me</i></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzroLUy-B4ypphbabfo-iS8NWvc38iju0PyCuv3VmDxw4mH0mGMlt3V_31Oip7dnqK7vWkKv8XHuiSx5dxAEcQDH-DVCqHc4_KzI3OC8YdWmsRN64Z3CLM2U7mrCHvQ2HUTze4-xbzXmFE/s1600/PinkFridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzroLUy-B4ypphbabfo-iS8NWvc38iju0PyCuv3VmDxw4mH0mGMlt3V_31Oip7dnqK7vWkKv8XHuiSx5dxAEcQDH-DVCqHc4_KzI3OC8YdWmsRN64Z3CLM2U7mrCHvQ2HUTze4-xbzXmFE/s640/PinkFridge.jpg" width="364" /></a></td></tr>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Keep Wet paint for later by storing it in the fridge. </b>This trick only lasts a few days. Cover the paint in plastic. Put the rollers tightly in a grocery sack, and the brushes in another bag, or your glove. The cool humidity in a fridge will help keep the paint longer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Don't waste money on a roller extender for a normal room, use a broom or mop handle. </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Use an angle brush to "cut in" correctly, and you'll never tape trim again. </b></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMBcZMdA0EM5VasPCFN8HLfdYiPbAqzOlv64CrIoScT4Iu2WgnwMM8Cnmqzn7MHEKv5XgXhG4wLX2hAL94zWsRd2GE8yYB9npIJqVwOfxqQGyQVQ4cxIoOZ3GsADwD1Mfw3WJKY5Ei_DfF/s1600/312E350B-AB63-4F33-A85D-EDBEBDB96EB1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMBcZMdA0EM5VasPCFN8HLfdYiPbAqzOlv64CrIoScT4Iu2WgnwMM8Cnmqzn7MHEKv5XgXhG4wLX2hAL94zWsRd2GE8yYB9npIJqVwOfxqQGyQVQ4cxIoOZ3GsADwD1Mfw3WJKY5Ei_DfF/s640/312E350B-AB63-4F33-A85D-EDBEBDB96EB1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Start in an inconspicuous place. Press the brush against the wall at a safe distance from the trim. Then as you travel down the edge, slowly, scoot closer towards the edge of the trim until you can travel straight down the edge. If you need to reload your brush, start at a safe distance from the trim in the part you already painted and scoot inwards and down at the same time. <br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Prevent spills, by planning ahead. Always reattach the lid to the paint can. </b></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>What You Need to Paint Like a Pro: </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_kh6Tx-8V4EQ-uR_aKtonasNVc1Kro4B3X7kKZfL4cplIyG3kAX0OISy08dWed3ZvlLpc9kaDNsS9BXvOpfSHbkyglmiwidl84zUTSTB-UO-5uSvovLFhouK5ZIfNjiaB_wJXKszZDPCW/s1600/paint.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_kh6Tx-8V4EQ-uR_aKtonasNVc1Kro4B3X7kKZfL4cplIyG3kAX0OISy08dWed3ZvlLpc9kaDNsS9BXvOpfSHbkyglmiwidl84zUTSTB-UO-5uSvovLFhouK5ZIfNjiaB_wJXKszZDPCW/s640/paint.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. Paint Guide: <i>Select one that is 10" or smaller. The bigger it is, will make it harder to keep pressed in the line. Hold it at a 45 degree angle with the edge firmly pressed in the corner. Run your brush along the edge. *Check the guide continually for paint build-up, and wipe clean often. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. Small Foam Roller: (select the size based on your needs) <i>These are perfect for small spaces that a regular roller won't fit in. It also leaves a very smooth surface, perfect for glossy finishes. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3. Rollers: <i>You should get at least 1 roller per color, but you may want more since it is often easier to toss than to clean them out totally. *SEE ROLLER SELECTION BELOW*</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
4. HANDy Paint Cup: <i>I am not usually a fan of gadgets, but this cup is awesome primarily because of the magnet that holds your brush when your not using it. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5. 2 inch Angle Brush: <i>I love this little one, but a regular handle will work as well. Make sure to buy one with soft bristles. Price really changes the quality, so make sure to buy one that is mid-price range. *SEE CARING FOR YOUR BRUSHES*</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
6. (whoops there are two 6s) The rubber band trick actually works great! <i>Especially if you are working with oils... which you won't want to get in your HANDy cup. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Roller: <i>Nothing fancy necessary.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
7. Plastic Drop Cloth: <i>I prefer the plastic ones because I just don't trust the cloth ones for big spills, which you never know when catastrophe will strike. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
8. Painters Tape: <i>Frog tape is the clear winner in all the side by side comparisons bloggers have done... but use whichever you prefer. A hair dryer can help remove stubborn masking tape. Don't leave your painters tape up for more than a week (unless the instructions say otherwise) it can become REALLY hard/impossible to remove.... you will loose your mind. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
9 & 10: A sturdy plastic or metal rolling pan, and disposable roller inserts: <i>You can either super clean the roller pan every time or toss it when you are finished. Once your paint has dried in the disposable pan, it should be tossed otherwise the wet paint will soften parts of the hardened paint and leave you with floaty chunks of dried, rubbery paint. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxF3S3FkaR1TBA2m0Vrc8KIqquzKKSB99G7tmcXlxD0k8iC2jNhHOc78L9Hp0VSbALRX0vT3V32wFg4mKMlyPoKNGzob-MVSc3Wd4WA-nO2tJeoJQUGMGTolrCjDx5YM66dt4Vgbb71RW-/s1600/gadgets.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxF3S3FkaR1TBA2m0Vrc8KIqquzKKSB99G7tmcXlxD0k8iC2jNhHOc78L9Hp0VSbALRX0vT3V32wFg4mKMlyPoKNGzob-MVSc3Wd4WA-nO2tJeoJQUGMGTolrCjDx5YM66dt4Vgbb71RW-/s400/gadgets.jpg" width="280" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Many fancy paint gadgets suggest "after some practice, you will find this tool really useful." So basically you will probably be incredibly frustrated and go back to the old faithfuls- brush and rollers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>ROLLER & BRUSH SELECTION</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Never, ever, ever, EVER buy the cheapest brushes or rollers. They shed. The roller will leave little fuzzy hairs all in your beautiful paint. The cheap brushes will shed bristles. You don't have to buy anything fancy or expensive, just mid grade. You can even buy store brand rollers if you want, but I would buy a name brand synthetic, soft, brush.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Unless you are painting a stucco texture, a regular roller will work best. The thicker rollers waste a lot of paint by absorbing it, and splatter painting your face, arms, hair, & clothes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<b>BRUSH CARE</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
only wash brushes in cold water. Try and never dip the brush in as far as the metal (ferrule) and definitely never leave your brush soaking in water that touches the ferrule. This can cause you to loose bristles. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>PAINT SELECTION</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oil vs Latex</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Oil</b> is tough stuff. If possible, avoid it at all costs. It smells really toxic, takes forever to dry, and is murder to clean up spills. You should use it if you need to cover up a really bad mess. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You should consider oil (like Kilz) to cover stains from water damage, dark wood, covering up old funky messes. You can also use it for trim and doors, since they often get messy if you want, but glossy latex can work too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
DON'T PAINT LATEX OVER OIL PAINT- I mean obviously you can, I did it on my headboard, but sometimes the latex paint will chip off or get easily scratched.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Latex </b>is a water based paint that is easy-ish to clean up. It comes in low VOC options for safe breathing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Flat paint</b> is best if you plan on painting over any future messes. If you don't see yourself washing the walls, this option is for you. Touching up flat paint is undetectable. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Eggshell, Satin, Semi-gloss: </b>Easier to wipe clean, but always try to remove the filth with water alone first, then hand soap and water, since most commercial cleaners will dissolve/soften the paint and damage the finish. Great for cabinets or trim as it is easier to touch up than gloss.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Gloss</b>: Statement pieces (like stripes in the same color, but different finishes) cabinets, doors, or trim. Looks crisp and reflects the light appearing clean.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Beginner Painting Tips: </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Get most of the paint off your roller. You may feel like this is saving you time, but it is actually just wasting your paint. The paint will spray all over you and can cause drips down the wall.</li>
<li>You don't have to push. The paint should come off the roller with ease, if you are pushing, you need to re-load your roller with paint more often. </li>
<li>Paint in a "W" pattern, crossing over your previous roller lines. This will leave a seamless finish. </li>
<li>It will take less time to do 2 thin coats well than 1 thick coat which will waste your paint, and you will have to clean up more mistakes. </li>
<li>Cover the WHOLE floor with a drop cloth, not just the edges. Buying a few smaller drop cloths makes this easier than one big piece unless the room is empty and rectangular. Tape it down, to itself (the smaller pieces together) and to the base boards. You will inevitably step in a paint drop and unknowingly track it across the uncovered floor.... or worse experience a big spill. If it is just laying there it will drift from your movement, and you may not notice until you spill paint on the uncovered floor. </li>
</ul>

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Have you ever felt for someone going through a time of need, and desperately wanted to do something.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">"What can I do to help? If I can help, give me a call, If there's anything I can do, let me know" </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"> But sometime your life is too busy to plan ahead, you get wrapped up in your own day to day, and usually because the family in need is humble or doesn't want to put you out, and they say "oh no, we are getting by just fine."</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">When a friend has a baby, someone is in the hospital, someone dies, rather than asking these questions, how about just preparing and freezing a meal or just an entree for your friend? A few extras could live in your freezer for just such an occasion. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Or how about just calling and saying I'm going to "name the restaurant" and I'm going to bring you some food. What time will you be home?</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">My grandfather had a stroke on July 20th, and has been in a rehab/ nursing home since then. My mom stayed with my grandmother and they spend most of the day at the rehab visiting with him. My mom sent me this: </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: #134f5c; font-family: inherit;">So many people have asked these same questions over the last 7-8 weeks, and rarely did I feel like I could say "Yes, how about some food so we don't have to drive through again or make a PBJ for the 20th night? The next door neighbors brought chicken and dumplings the first week and we ate the third meal from the frozen leftovers last night. We have one more bag we will eat when we need it.</span></i></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: #134f5c; font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">After the guest post on cooking monthly by Dani, I thought while preparing those meals, prepare a few extra to have on hand for when you need to be hospitable to someone in need. Your friends will never be mad at you for bringing them food, and if it is frozen they can save it for later if other people bring them food. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">It doesn't have to be pretty, and if you don't cook, just bring by a stoffers lasagna. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Life doesn't often give you a lot of warning before experiencing tragedy or trouble, go ahead and be prepared for these times, so that you can be a blessing to those around you. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Please feel free to share a recipe for crowd pleaser meals that you take to people in times of need. </span></div>

]If you have a cat, or a mom with a cat, you probably have a few of these floating around your house... oh no? Is that just me... well, if you stumble across a big kitty litter bucket, you might want to hold onto it because they are infinitely useful.</div>

But, they are unfortunately quite conspicuous and void of style. The label is printed on, so although I could probably use some harsh chemical to dissolve the ink, I'd rather just cover it.</div>

I've collected a mini hoard of (adhesive) shelf paper from TJMaxxes in the last year, but I knew I wanted to save them for a really special project. First measure the areas you want to cover, and cut out corresponding pieces. </div>
